Mr. Roosevelt Nelson Sr.

Mr. Roosevelt “Plumie” Nelson Sr. was the son of the late Israel and Magnolia Nelson. He was born on July 21, 1938 in Camden SC, where he was raised by his grandparents, Zeke and Leila Wells. He departed this earthly life on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Peake Rehabilitation Center in Takoma Park, Maryland. Mr. Nelson attended the public schools of Kershaw County. He later moved to Washington DC, where he worked at Stone Industries for 48 years. Mr. Nelson was formerly married to the late Alta Mae Yates Nelson. To this union four children were born. Roosevelt, Jr (Tracey) Nelson, Eric (Erinstine) Nelson, Darrell, Sr.(Yvonne) Nelson and Sandra T. (Tracy)Bogan. He is also survived by his wife Denise Nelson. This union added three more sons to the heart of Mr. Nelson; David (Cecila)McGhee, Terry McGhee and Sharieff Omar. One brother Israel Nelson of Rembert, SC; two sisters, Leila Dais of Washington DC and Jean Nelson of Rembert, SC. Seventeen grandchildren;Sonya Pryor, Roosevelt(India)Nelson, Christian(Krishawnda)Osborne, Maurice Nelson, Andre Jennings, JaVondra (John) Wright, Darrell Nelson Jr.,Kamryn, Winter and Sydney Bogan, David, Jasmine, Alishia, Imania and Isiah McGhee, Miracle and Freedom Omar. Nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. One aunt Bernice Walker and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other special relatives and friends.
